About Me
Who is Andrew Parmelee?
I love drums! My parents bought me my first drum kit at the age of 8, after they got tired of me putting dents in all of the pots and pans in the house. Although drums are my passion in life, I also play bass; guitar and I have a terrible voice that people somehow convince me to use in live settings.
What is your band/live history?
I started my first band called at about 12 years old called; "Bad Day for Margret". We were a cover band with very few originals and a 4/4 kick/snare beat was my only skill set. After that, I joined a pop- punk band in high school called "Waking Suburbia" (EP available on iTunes) as a bassist where we played locally around Ottawa, Canada. Following the breakup of that band, I did lots of session playing as a drummer/bassist for bands that were missing a member for a period of time.
Currently, I play drums in Crossing Jane (www.passthejane.com)

What are your musical goals?
I want to make this my full time job. I currently teach guitar at a local music school, but I would like to take my musical career to the next level. If am playing music to pay the bills, I have reached my goal. I have always wanted to get to people on an emotional level with my/my band's music and my job as a musician has been fulfilled if I can portray that feeling.
What's with the motto; "Fill The Void"?
It's not up to other people to make you happy. I constantly hear people telling me how a certain individual has made them unhappy or angry. You can't control other people, you can only control yourself. Do not allow others to dictate your happiness or sadness because it is YOUR responsibility to make yourself happy. Always remember when you are down on yourself- that it's your decision whether or not you are going to Fill The Void in your life. I'm lucky, music did that for me.
Your covers aren't as fancy as most of the ones found on YouTube... why?
My goal as a drummer isn't to play as fast or as "crazy" as possible. It's to give my creative input on already recorded songs by my favorite artists. One of my favorite things to do is to sit behind my kit, close my eyes and pretend I'm on stage with blink-182 while playing along to First Date or Reckless Abandoned.
